A different
attention.
JUSTLIKE1971 is an independent photographic practice based in Stockholm. Its starting point is simple: the familiar is rarely as ordinary as it first appears. A shadow crossing a wall, an unexpected repetition in architecture, a solitary figure or the precise moment when colour transforms a space can become an image worth returning to.
A photograph can begin with almost nothing: a strange reflection, a patch of colour, a face half-lost in shadow, or an everyday place suddenly transformed by light. That moment of recognition is what keeps the camera close.
Curiosity before convention.
The work is not restricted to a single genre. Urban geometry, street photography, architectural details, fleeting encounters and natural forms all belong to the same investigation: how light, timing and perspective change the way a subject feels. The camera is a tool for asking questions, not merely documenting answers. The strongest photograph often arrives where an obvious scene meets an unexpected arrangement.
More than a photograph.
A large photographic archive is not the same as a finished collection. Images are selected by their ability to hold attention: visual structure, meaningful light, tonal control, originality and emotional presence. The selection process is intentionally strict. For fine art prints there is a second standard: source-file integrity, effective resolution at final size, colour management, paper suitability, print proofing, production consistency and permission to reproduce the subject where necessary. A compelling screen image is not automatically a successful physical print.
